Edgelands - Sally Mumby-Croft's elegy to the Olympic sacrificial zone.
Edgeland from sallymc on Vimeo.
Sally Mumby-Croft's elegiac video meditates on the impact of the deletion of an entire landscape and all it contains. A refreshingly unregenerated and wild place, an 'unregulated landscape' rich with history and possibilities, is now being turned into one of the most oppressively manipulated, restrictive and artificial zones in Europe.
Local people contributing voiceovers include writer Iain Sinclair, Johnnie Walker of the Hackney & Leyton Sunday Football League, printmaker Leigh Niland, Charlie Charman and Amy Plant.

"perfect drainage there"
"perfect drainage there" were the words of Johnny Walker who probably knows better than any other local. You really have to question why the football pitches on Main Marsh are getting field drains installed. It must be for something (or somebody)?
