Chicago is up against Tokyo, Madrid and Rio. The winner gets announced in October. While hosting the Olympics would present opportunities, it would also present challenges.
Claire Mahon is a human rights attorney who participated in the study, Fair Play for Housing Rights: Mega events, Olympic Games, and Housing Rights. Mahon is with the Geneva Academy for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. According to her research, previous Olympic games have displaced more than two million people around the world.
