Emotion Mapping Workshop in Hackney Wick, 26th April 2008
Christian Nolds has worked with communities in Stockport, Greenwich and San Francisco, to name but a few, to create emotion maps of their areas. He is now inviting residents in Hackney Wick to map their feelings about the area in a emotion mapping workshop. Participants will take a walk around the area wearing a Galvanic Skin Response device, this will measure the changes in skin temperature and heart rate. Christian will join participants in interpreting the device's data in order to record their feelings about where they have been and what they encountered during the walk. Inevitably this group exercise will lead to some lively discussions about some of the local issues in your area.
The workshop is planned to start at 1pm, and is likely to run until 5pm, there are limited places so if you are interested in attending do reserve your place by contacting Morag: Tel 020 7377 1822; email: officeadmin@ltgf.co.uk; fax: 020 7247 5637

Community Maps for Hackney Wick and Royal Docks are now online

The online mapping technology continues to be developed in response to local needs by the UrbanBuzz partners at University College London, London 21, Planning Aid for London and LTGF. Visitors to the map can see some of the places, resources and issues discussed at local meetings and can register with the site to add their own ideas. Participation in the Community Mapping project is open to anyone with an interest in the area especially those who live or work in the area.

Last month the Community Map was launched in Hackney Wick. A social history layer is now being developed which will map the change that has happened in the area. Marc Owen from UCL and Theo Malzieu from London21 are beginning to contact local groups already involved in creating local history archives. Do get in touch to share your memories of the area, contact Morag for further details or go to the Hackney Wick Community Map.
