'London Councils' Chairman objects to costs rise

|

‘London Councils’ has been firmly behind the bid for the games and is working with the Olympic Delivery Authority and the Game's organising committee to ensure that they leave a positive legacy benefiting every Londoner.

Londoners are already paying a fair share towards the costs of staging these games. We have always argued that the amount London council tax payers would have to pay and the length of time they would contribute for should be capped.

Any increase would be grossly unfair for Londoners as the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will bring benefits to the entire country.
