  • Defend Council Housing - National Campaign against the privatisation of council housing.
  • Empty Homes Agency - Independent campaigning charity, which exists to highlight the waste of empty property in England and works with others to devise and promote solutions to bring empty properties back into use.
  • London Leaseholders' NetworkNetwork of leaseholder organisations operating in London
  • Moonlight Robbery Campaign Tenant-led campaign - aimed at ending government 'robbery' of council tenants rents to benefit other tax payers and for rents to be used exclusively for the management, maintenance and major repairs to council tenants homes.
  • Shelter - UK campaign charity for homeless and badly housed people.
  • Sustainable Towerblocks Initiative - Informal grouping of voluntary organisations. The initiative is seeking to discover ways to make towerblocks more sustainable places to live.

  • Inside Housing - Weekly housing magazine.
  • London Housing Magazine - Bi-monthly magazine published by London Housing (part of the ALG). It has a 'tenants forum' page - with contributions on housing issues from London tenants.
  • New Start - Weekly regeneration magazine
  • Regeneration and Renewal - Weekly regeneration magazine.
  • Society Guardian - Contains analysis on health, housing, regeneration, local government, voluntary sector and social care.

FUNDING

  • Access Funds - Provides latest funding information from central government, National Lottery, developed governing bodies, EU and quangos.
  • Community Fund - Distributes money raised by lottery to support charities and voluntary groups.
  • FunderFinder - Develops and distributes software to help individuals and not-for-profit organisations in the UK to identify charitable trusts that might give them money.

RESEARCH

  • Centre for Housing Policy - Part of the department of social policy and social work at the University of York. Established in 1990 with the support of the Joseph Rowntree. Carries out housing research for central government, local government, Registered Social Landlords, voluntary and charitable organisations.
  • European Services Strategy Unit - an independent, non-profit organisation, committed to social justice through the provision of good quality public services by democratically accountable public bodies. .
  • Department of Urban Studies - University of Glasgow - Details research on regeneration, Homelessness, social justice and housing.
  • Housing Resource Guide - Lists links to organisations involved with housing issues - includes those involved with building and construction, homelessness, local authorities, housing associations, tenant involvement and central government.
  • Joseph Rowntree Foundation - One of the largest independent social policy research and development charities in the UK

  • Community Legal Services Direct - This web site contains leaflets on the law relating to housing, debt, employment, human rights, asylum, welfare benefits, discrimination, medical accidents, wills and probate, divorce and separation and where you may obtain advice on these issues.
