London Chamber of Commerce survey report
The London Chamber of Commerce has this statement (edited by me) on its website.
'The London Chamber of Commerce has now published a major report on business attitudes to the London Olympics entitled A Sporting Chance - Ensuring London Firms Benefit from the 2012 Olympic Games.
Sponsored by KPMG and based on detailed interviews with directors from 37 London firms, the report is the first to gauge their attitudes to the London Olympics, their confidence that London businesses will benefit and whether or not they planned to bid for Olympic contracts.
According to Alun Bowen, partner with KPMG's middle market practice in London: "Hosting the 2012 Olympics is a fantastic opportunity for London. Not only will the Olympics be a great opportunity to increase the level of investment in London, and enhance its reputation as a world city but it will also serve as a catalyst for the regeneration of the Lower Lea Valley and leave a lasting legacy for the capital. In addition, it appears that London 2012 has provided a focus for genuine team work between the private and public sector working together to achieve the common goal of getting things done over the next seven years."'
Hardly the most impartial basis on which to conduct a survey.
Identifying business support - In January 2005, a London Chamber of Commerce and Industry quarterly Monitor survey findings showed that 68.3% of businesses asked think that the 2012 Olympic Games should be held in London. Of the 357 businesses surveyed, some 47.3% thought that the Games would benefit their business in some way.
'In some way'?! And the other 52.7%?
