News about UCL management’s plans to build a new campus in Stratford on the site of a 700-house council estate, the Carpenters Estate, has been sweeping UCL. Student campaigners have protested in the Quad, occupied the Wilkins Garden Room for a week and set up an exhibition in the Print Room Café; UCL academics have released statements critical of the process and emphasizing the importance of the involvement of the local community. But many members of the UCL community still don’t know about the Carpenters Estate. Join us on a tour of the estate, to see the area that UCL wants to buy and the community that they may destroy in so doing.
