You can't report from here!

Further to Leyton, this is where we're headed. Constant interference with the freedom of expression and the press particularly, but by no means exclusively, on private land.

Round and Round and Round in Leyton

Leyton is becoming a hot spot for security guards harassing camera crews. Another film crew wanted to film the site of the former Clays Lane estate. We were standing on the same steps next to Draper's Field when once again a team of security guards came over to 'question' us about what we were doing. After some banter in which we told them it was none of their business they retired to call the cops.

CPO documents? Fox TV - you can talk to my lawyers!

I must have done a hundred interviews about Clays Lane, the compulsory purchase order and being evicted/relocated by the LDA. So far no-one has ever asked me for proof that this happened. Until yesterday, when I got an email from a freelancer who had done an interview with me for Fox TV.

You can't make it up!

Being filmed next to Draper's Field. Security guard told us we couldn't film Olympic sites. Told him we were on public land. He called the police who agreed we could film but said hoped we understood why the guards were worried. Took film crew's details. Said if anyone climbed in they would know where to come!

No way of knowing if it is day or night unless you ask and are told what time it be. Ten minutes or an hour, or three, time stands on its head...

An open letter to the organisers of the London 2012 Olympics

Dear International Olympic Committee, London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Commission for a Sustainable London 2012,

Given the recent controversy about the Dow contract, and following the resignation of Meredith Alexander from the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012, we are pleased to see that the CSL’s Chair has acknowledged that this has ‘raised wider questions about corporate behaviour, past and present, and how ethical issues are effectively factored into decision making,’ and that the Commission is going to address the challenge of considering ‘new approaches that incorporate a broader range of ethical issues into decision making’ in its forthcoming Annual Review, to be published in May.
