New London Olympics site security fencing appears
The Berlin Wall-style gradual enhancement of the Olympic Park perimeter has advanced again recently.
This could be some sort of trial section or the start of a program of replacement which will continue along the boundary.
There are two variations of the new fencing here, fine welded-mesh which is at least 50% higher than the existing barrier, and a type topped with a grid of 15 wires on insulators that presumably will be electrified.
A few days later an additional low barrier of metal panels appeared in front.
We are clearly moving out of the cuddly phase when the ODA could claim the endless, windowless fencing was there for "health and safety reasons, primarily ... With demolition work on the Olympic Park accelerating it is essential we install hoardings around the site to protect the safety of local residents and our workforce."
