Waltham Forest dementia support cut for Olympics

GamesMonitor has been sent a copy of a letter to a relative of a user of day centres for dementia sufferers. From a manager of dementia support at Waltham Forest, it reads:

Closure of day clubs during Olympics period

Following a discussion with senior management we have agreed the following closure dates for Dames Road, Glebelands and Baytree house day clubs.

These dates have been put in place due to the Olympics and the location of the clubs.

Dames Road is situated next to Wanstead Flats where all media and poiice will be situated, Glebelands is close to Stratford on the main route, and Baytree House is located on route to the White Bear Water Park for the water supports venue.

The transport and situation will be reviewed every two weeks... If it is found there is a minimal dirsruption to the area the clubs will be re-opened and letters sent out informing you.

Baytree House will close 26 July and re-open in the week beginning 17 September 2012.

Dames Road will close 25 July and re-open in the week beginning 17 September 2012.

Glebelands will close 20 July and re-open in the week beginning 17 September 2012.
