The Nazi Games: Politics, the Media and the Body An exhibition from 14 June to 14 September The 1936 Games left a deep impression on history, including astounding innovations from the torch relay to live broadcasts of events, from slow-motion replays of athletes to overwhelming displays of political power. The Nazis exploited the mass media to create images of the body that pushed its message of racial purity and superiority. Remarkably, Nazi persecution was also a trigger for the creation of the Paralympic movement, inspiring a Jewish refugee to create the Stoke Mandeville Games.
